Product Description

The toys are back in town and at last they've got a video game to equal the brilliance of the movies. You can relieve the story from the new film if you want, but there's much more to this game than the usual film tie-in.

The best bit of this game is the exclusive Toy Box mode, where you can play as Woody, Buzz or Jessie in the role of Sheriff in a toyland town. This mode uses all the same characters from the films but gives you complete freedom to play with all of them however you want - from exciting car (or horse and dragon) races to catching ghosts.

One special element of the Toy Box is magic goo that can change the size of any of the characters, which together with all the other collectable objects lets you completely customise the town, and the world of Toy Story, however you want.

Key Features

  • Infinity and Beyond: More than just a film tie-in, explore the entire universe of Toy Story with all the familiar characters, locations and freeform sandbox style exploration.
  • Game of the Film: Recreate the events of Toy Story 3 in story mode, complete with all the new characters and adventures.
  • Virtual Sandbox: Jump into the exclusive Toy Box mode and explore a giant virtual toy world filled with interactive environments and fully customisable buildings.
  • Accessories Included: Take part in exciting mini-games like car racing and unlock a range of special items, from a ghost-catching lightning rod to Buzz's ray gun.
  • Toys for Two: Two-player split screen mode lets you play with friends and family in the same game, either co-operating or just doing your own thing.

5 out of 5 stars Sad I know, But I'm Hooked   July 21, 2010

It is sad to admit that I have enjoyed playing this. I have played it with my 3 year old, who loved the split screen in toy box mode and basically we just played hide and seek!

Also played it with my seven year old nephew, who absolutely adored it (despite being more into Ben-10, Pokemon etc).

The sad part is that once they stopped playing, I was compelled to continue!

I have only really played tox box mode, so won't comment on Story Mode, other than to say I think it is up to the same high standard of graphics and cut scenes that are in TB mode.

TB mode is a good mix of free roam and missions, which are maybe a little easy for an adult, but no less fun. Having said that there are some really clever bits in here, the 'Goo' that you can throw around turns things bigger or smaller and must be used for some missions and the sheer volume of missions compensates for the relative ease of some of them. Both main characters (Bo Peep, Slinky, Pork Chop etc) and non characters ask you to do missions with more areas and interactive toys being unlocked as you go.

The only gripe I might have is game length, I suspect my nephew and I raced through over 50% of TB mode in 5 or 6 hours. But is soo much fun, I am sure there will be bits we missed and we haven't even looked at Story mode yet! I also suspect that if Disney/Pixar have any sense, they will release DLC, as this is a collect toys kind of game.

Good to see that some-one has sat down and thought out a game that not only coincides with the film (which is also great) but stands up in its own right.

5 out of 5 stars Great fun   July 21, 2010

Most franchise games have proved to be disappointing, this one bucks the trend.

Load of options, simple to play, smooth, colourful and inventive - captures the spirit of the movie and characters perfectly. Fun and very well made. This would be a great game in its own right but overlay it with Toy Story and the whole becomes more than the sum of its parts.

Was well received in the press and can see why. Suspect this will have a long lifespan and is a great summer holiday buy.

5 out of 5 stars The impossible has happened - an excellent movie tie-in game has been made   August 1, 2010

There have been a lot of dire movie tie-in games released over the years. Yet this one is different, its more than good, its excellent. Seemingly inspired by the Lego games, Toy Story 3 may just be the best movie tie-in game ever. It may be easy, yet its a fun ride. Oh, and I wish the train in Red Dead Redemption was as interesting to ride on as Toy Story 3's is.

5 out of 5 stars brilliant game for kids   September 2, 2010

this is an excellent game for children old and young (i like it too)
my 4 year old can play it along with my 8 year old, some bits of the game which the youngest cant do is not a problem when they are playing together as 2 players because the older child can do it and brings the scene forward a bit.

excellent game, highly recommend it but be warned, its very very addictive, i cant rate it highly enough, especially as we only have 1 playstation in the house and they are always fighting over who wants to play it!! in this way both can play it at the same time...happy days!
